A QR code for wedding song requests

Weddings bring together many musical tastes. Some guests have a song in mind at dinner, others only when they reach the dance floor. A QR code lets both send their request without going to the DJ.

The QR code can be there during dinner

Put the table cards out before the celebration begins. The DJ can read the first requests before the dancing starts. A brief mention from the wedding party or DJ is usually enough. You can mention it again when later guests arrive.

Keep the table card short

“Which song gets you on the dance floor?” Add the QR code and you need little else. Print one card at its actual size and scan it in lighting similar to the celebration. You’ll quickly see whether the text, contrast and size work.

My QR plates for the tables

At weddings, I use 3D-printed plates: QR code on the front, my DJ logo on the back. Around 9 × 9 cm is a useful example size. If you’d like plates for your own events, ask Kern Medien about making them with your QR code and logo.

The next speech takes priority

The right song at the wrong moment helps no one. A speech may be about to start, or the couple may have chosen another track for that moment. Leave the DJ free to play requests later or leave them out. The list helps with selection; it doesn’t set the running order.

Wedding wishes on Chatwall

Alongside songs, guests can send greetings to the couple. Approve public messages before showing them and leave enough time to read them on screen. During a speech or photo presentation, Chatwall can take a break too.

The QR code is a small invitation within the celebration. It doesn’t need its own slot in the programme.
