Moderate guest messages before displaying them
Who approves messages, what belongs on the screen, and what helps when someone goes too far?
A birthday greeting takes seconds to write. So does an inside joke, but on a big screen not everyone may read it the way it was intended. It’s worth discussing approval before the first message arrives.
Show immediately or approve first?
Automatic approval can work at a small party with familiar guests. For a public or corporate event, it’s better to read messages first. Moderation lets you decide whether each post can appear.
Someone needs to own the task
Agree in advance who reviews messages and who covers breaks. It doesn’t have to be the DJ. There’s often little time during a set or speech. Moderate on a second device while Chatwall keeps running on screen. You can leave a short team note in Chatwall settings.
The rules can fit in one sentence
For example: “Keep it friendly and leave out private details.” The word filter helps, but it doesn’t make the decision for you. Names and inside jokes often depend on context.
When a post doesn’t belong on screen
Reject it. For repeated disruption, you can block the device temporarily. Remember that several guests may share one phone. One inappropriate sentence needn’t immediately lead to a block.
A quick test before the start
- Send and approve a message
- Check readability on the event screen
- Agree on approval and backup within the team
The clearer these three things are, the less you’ll need to explain in the middle of the event.
